So Cool

I feel so cool right now. I'm blogging from home. No, we didn't get internet.. I'm using my phone. Have you heard of tethering? someone told me you can tether android phones to your computer and use the internet on your phone. I tried for two weeks. I even called sprint & the girls was so rude to me & made fun of me. She said there was NO way of sharing the internet on my phone with my computer. Well, let me tell she was WRONG!! i just figured it out! I can't believe I did it... and it works great. Now I have to figure out how to do it with Zach's computer... It really stinks having a mac & a pc because I don't know how to use his computer...
Okay, so here is another craft idea. I'm really trying to make decorations with things I have in the house.
I used two sheets of felt. One black & one purple. I cut them in half & I made my boo! letters. Then, I used orange thread for the black felt & green fro the purple felt & made stitches around the squares. I glued the letters and made stitches around them.
Enjoy!!

I can't think of any names for this post...

Sean & Leigh Ann Touhy came to Baltimore to give a speech. People asked them question & then they signed their book. It was.... Interesting.  I loved the movie The Blind Side, but I'm not going to lie. I lost a little respect from them after they told us how things really happened.
......
My hair is a mess. My highlight are half way down my head. I called a couple places to see how much it would cost to get my hair done  here & the cheapest was 140... Ridiculous!  The first thing I'm doing when I get off the airplane in Vegas is get my hair done...
 .....

I knitted my first baby sweater. It turned out really small. I don't know any  babies that would fit into this sweater so I think I'm going to save it for my first baby boy. Don't worry, this is not an announcement.

I hope you all have a great week!

Pin

AHHH the humidity is getting to me. I can't walk more than two blocks without having a sweaty back. That's gross, I know. I haven't worn my hair down in almost a month. At first I thought I over packed, but I've worn very single dress I brought. I can't wear jeans or leggings, because they kill me. Too hot...
I'm making skirts with the fabric I have. I don't have enough fabric to make dresses so I bought 3 shirts for 15 dollars at wet seal & I made this pin to go with my first skirt.

The cool thing about this is that I can put it on different shirts, dresses, sweater, anything.
I forgot how fun felt is. Growing up our family tradition was to make our own felt stocking. I was 7 when I made my first one.
You can make really fun things with felt.

I've been considering opening an etsy shop...  I don't know if I'm going to do it, but if I do I was thinking on starting with something simple, like this pin. What ya think?

Buttons made out of pennies...

Wallet...

I will post the tutorials soon. Have a great day!

Update

My favorite thing about Baltimore is that I live really close the the harbor. Yesterday we went to dinner to a labenese place that was gross! But... It was close to the harbor, so I guess that makes it better...

Our local super market is pretty expensive... I don't know if it's because we live down town or if it's just that everything is more expensive back east... or... maybe Logan is really cheap. I can buy a dozen of eggs for .99 cents & here they are 3 dollars... Anyways, we went grocery shopping to Whole Foods, believe it or not it's cheaper than the other store. We walked 2 miles to get there, but I didn't care at all because it was by the harbor. I'm not sure what it is about that place that I love.. maybe the shopping. I love going to Urban Outfitters to look around. I asked for an application so I can get a job & get 40% off, but they are not hiring... I'm also getting a little bored of just staying at home all day, so a job would be awesome!

I made a little purse. I have a lot of time in my hands & I needed a little purse because the one  I brought is too big & heavy. This one is perfect to put my keys, card & cell phone.

Home

We finally moved into our apartment. Zach started work this week, & so far he loves it.
He gets a little giddy when he walks into the hospital. I'm sure he dreams about him going to that school & working at that hospital lol...(He's going to kill me when he reads this).

I just realized I'm probably the dumbest person in this building... You have to be a Hopkins student to live here. ( Yes, we cheated, but we can since we subleased...)

I really like the apartment. It has windows all over the place. The only bad thing is that we are right next to an alley & the garbage man scares me every morning at 6. & we live close to Peabody (Johns Hopkins music school) so we have the pleasure to listen to bands playing all day.

I unpacked my sewing machine today & made a little scripture cover.

Moms & dresses

I just want to start by wishing a happy mother's day to all the amazing moms in the world.
I hope you all have an amazing day!

Well, this semester is over! Zach is done with finals & all he can say is that he's sad he doesn't have school tomorrow. He says he likes having the pressure of test & homework. I think it's weird... But I'm glad he likes school & I'm happy I will have a husband this summer!
I've been extremely busy with school & work and I have tons of crafts unfinished. I stayed up late last night & finished a dress I started last weekend. I'm terrible at following patterns and I always end up doing my own thing. I'm actually surprised the dress turned out! The only problem was that I didn't buy enough fabric & when I went to Joaan's to get more they were out of the fabric I needed, so the lines on the back of the dress are  horizontal instead of vertical...

This is what I'm going to wear with it... It looks weird on the hanger... Maybe I'll wear the dress & take some pictures so you see what it looks like on!

One more thing.....
I want to congratulate everyone that graduated this year!

Baby Shoes

I've been wanting to make baby shoes for a while. But I couldn't find a pattern for the shoes I wanted to make. So... I made my own pattern. They are not perfect, but I'm so happy they turned out exactly the way I had in mind.
I really like making my own patterns. I get better with time. And I'm going to keep working on this baby girl shoes until they are PERFECT!
I love making things for babies.

obsessed

My new obsessions:
Headbands
Flowers
Bright colors
You put these 3 things together & you have a yoyo headband. Lately I've been obsessed with headbands. Especially vintage, big & bright.
I bought a couple of cute headbands at forever 21 and I've been working on some myself.
This is a picture of one of the first yoyo headband I made. It's big, maybe bigger than my face & very bright. That's why I like i love it.
ps. I really need new fabric. I keep using the same for all my projects. Jo-Ann doesn't really have cute fabrics. I buy most of my fabrics at Hobby Lobby, but they don't have a big selection.
I've found a lot of cute fabric online, but I feel bad paying 10 dollars for 1 yard. If you guys know of a good cheap online fabric store, please let me know!!!
zairaera@gmail.com
I'm also looking for cute baby boy fabric!
Thanks. I'm off to bed. Have a great night.

Finally!!

I finally finished this quilt I made for my mom. This is the first quilt I have ever made and it took me so long to finish it. I couldn't find a place to quilt it, so I hand quilted it. That took like a month, because I only had like an hour a day to work on it. And then, when I was getting ready to bind it. My sewing machine decided to stop working. So i had to bind it by hand too. But now it's all done!!!
It's a lap quilt. I didn't want to make it bigger because I was a little scared to ruin it, so I didn't want to waste a lot of fabric. But now, I'm ready to make a big quilt!
You have no idea how excited I am! I snapped like 20 pics!

Pasta Jars

After my bad experience baking the other night,
I made this jars for the girls I visit teach. The message this month is about having some food storage and trying not to get into debt. I came up with the idea to make them a jar for their food storage. I went to the dollar store after work and bought some jars and pasta. This is a very easy, fast and cheesy idea.
If you haven't done your visiting teaching, this might be a good idea to drop off or maybe you could use some candy instead of pasta.

Silhouette

I made this Silhouette the other day. I'm still trying to decide what I want to do with it. I don't know if I want to make a bunch of different silhouettes for my frames in the living room or if I should just frame it and put it somewhere else....

I love...

I love hats. That's the only reason I love winter, because I can wear hats every day.

I love hats. I can wear them when I don't want to do my hair or when it's dirty.

I love hats. They keep me warm. And they protect my hair from the snowy days.

I love hats. I came up with this pattern myself. I'm so proud of this cute little hat.

More Headbands

I wasn't sure this headbands were going to turn out cute, but I like them! You can wear them 2 ways. I've made 3 different colors so far and I'm making more! What do you think?

the little owls

Lately I have been obsessed with owls. I made this two little things this morning. They are funny looking, but that's what I like about them. They are so easy and fun to make!

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

This weekend I learned how to crochet flowers! you can go here  to get instructions. The instructions are really easy.
I have seen a lot of girls wearing cute little winter headbands. I looked online for hours trying to find them, and I finally found them on etsy, but they were 20 dollars. So I decided to try to make my own! And here it is! I finished my first one! I love it. It keeps me warm here in Logan.

Christmas countdown

I just realized the other day that I don't have any Christmas decorations. But its kind of late to buy some because Christmas is next week and we are going home this weekend.
The other day when Zach was organizing the closet the found 3 wooden blocks I've had for a year. I was supposed to make a Christmas countdown with my old ward. I didn't go to the activity so I just got the material. I had no idea how the thing goes. The lady that made the package with all the material had 30 pieces of paper. So I just used my own scrapbook paper (I didn't like the one she picked out) and made my Christmas Countdown.

Things I used:
3 wooden blocks
scrapbook paper
Mod podge
Number stickers
