Is this gross?

A couple of weeks ago I went to the DI and found these cute popcorn bowls. They were brand new and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy them. Zach thinks it's gross to buy dishes from the DI. But like I said... these were new. I bought 5. A big one and 4 little ones. And I only paid 3 dollars for everything! was that a deal or what??

Another healhy treat

The other day I was watching the Rachel Ray show and Alicia Silverstone was on the show. She gave her recipe for crispy peanut butter treats. I made them today and they were so good. You guys have to try them. This is an organic treat, so if you're into organic food you will love this recipe.

Ingredients
1 box brown rice crisps cereal
1 3/4 cups brown rice syrup
Fine sea salt
3/4 cup peanut butter or almond butter (preferably unsweetened and unsalted)
1/2 cup grain-sweetened, nondairy chocolate or carob chip ( I don't like chocolate chips so I used nuts).
Yields: Makes 9 to 12 Squares
Preparation
Pour rice cereal into a large bowl. Heat the syrup with a pinch of salt in a saucepan over low heat. When the rice syrup liquefies, add the peanut butter and stir until well combined. Pour over the rice cereal. Mix well with a wooden spoon.
Once thoroughly mixed and cooled to room temperature, stir in the chocolate chips. Make sure the mixture is cool, or you will end up with melted chocolate instead of chocolate chips in your treats.
Turn the mixture out into an 8x8” or 9x13’” baking dish. Wet your wooden spoon lightly and press the mixture evenly into the pan. Let cool for 1 hour -- if you can -- before cutting into squares or bars.

Just a thought...

I know a lot of people hate long posts with no pictures. But I would like to share with everyone a really nice experience I had this week that totally change my life ( I'm not exaggerating). Zach and I signed up to be volunteers for "Best Buddies". What we do is hang out with people with disabilities twice a month. Zach and I were assigned to a couple. Blake has cerebral palsy and Robin has mild mental retardation. We went to their house on Wednesday to meet them and spend some time with them. All I can say is that it was one of the best experiences I've had. I learned so much from them. The way they live and the way their marriage works is amazing. Blake has a full time job and does tons of things on the side to earn some extra money. He's a country boy so he enjoys gardening and has his own green house. Neither Robin nor Blake can drive, so Robin stays home. The thing that amazed me the most was the way they treat each other. You can't really tell Robin is disabled, but Blake has a hard time speaking and putting his thoughts and his words together. Robin is so respectful and patient with Blake. You can tell their love is so pure. Robin asked me if I we were planning on having kids soon. I told her we want to wait a couple more years and her respond was so sweet. She said she would love to have kids in a couple of years or maybe in the second coming. I was a little confused when she said that about the second coming. And then I realized that she knows that she might not be able to have kids in this world, so she is waiting for the second coming to have the family she wants.
The reason why I said this experience change my life is because some time I get so caught up in things that don't matter. And I worry so much about things are silly. Sometimes I'm ungrateful and forget to count all my blessings. I worry about material things, when the only thing that matters are things you can't buy. Seeing the way Blake and Robin live and how grateful they are of one another has made me appreciate my marriage more. Not that I didn't appreciate it before but it made me look at thing in a totally different way. I love my husband and and I appreciate all the hard work he is doing right now for our family. I'm grateful I'm healthy and I can work so Zach can focus on school and he can become a great doctor some day. I'm grateful for my in-laws and all their love and support. We couldn't make it without them. And I'm grateful for Heavenly Father for giving me the opportunity to find the gospel. I'm grateful for life!

Today I got the flu shot at work. I was terrified at first. I'm a baby when it comes needles. I hope the shot works and I don't get sick this winter!

Mission accomplished!

These frames where a pain to paint. Most of them are not real wood so it took 7 coats to look good. Luckily, I had Kris help me. We painted 10 at first. Like I said before they were really hard to paint. It took us 2 days to finish them all, and then when we thought we were done it started raining, so we had to re paint them. I'm glad they are all done. Thanks Kris for helping me. You're the best!
4 frames look yellow, but one of them is green....

At the beginning of the summer I bought a white feather headband. I love it and I wear it all the time... but I can't find any other feather headbands.
The other day I was at walmart and I found a package of feathers!!! I didn't even know they sell feathers! I remembered Brittany was going to make some headbands so I decided to make some (thanks Britty for the idea). .They are not perfect but I love them and I have fun making them.
p.s. I look like I'm drunk in the last picture. Don't be jealous =)
